FAQs
What are the steps to working with wellSPEAK Therapy?
Typically you will need to have a referral sent to us from a healthcare provider. Often we see referrals come from primary care physicians, neurologists, ENTs, or the doctor who discharged you from the hospital or a rehabilitation facility if you required a stay there.
If you are opting for private pay only without plans to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, then a referral is not necessarily needed. You can schedule a free consultation right away to get a conversation started about your goals and needs.
Once we receive your referral (if needed), a 15 minute consultation will be scheduled to ensure we can provide the necessary services and prepare for your in depth assessment.
Next is the actual assessment. Depending on what you are seeking speech therapy for, this will look a bit different for everyone. In all cases, though, you can expect a mixture of standardized testing, subjective input gathered from you and your care partners (if desired), and questionnaires aiming to uncover as much information about you, your interests, goals, challenges, and motivators.
After the assessment, we create a treatment plan together. We decide what will be most beneficial and meaningful to address in our therapy and plan out steps to achieve those goals.
During therapy, we will consistently check in with you about your progress and concerns, adapting therapy options as needed to ensure we are continuously moving forward. When challenges come up or other needs arise, we will help connect you to other resources that will allow all of your needs as a whole to be supported.
Throughout our time together, we will be regularly referring to discharge plans. Not because we want to get you out of here too quickly! But because knowing what someone’s end goal and big picture after therapy is incredibly important to all the steps we take during therapy. We want you to be as prepared as possible to take on your world after our time comes to an end.
